Active Duty and Military Spouse Design Career Education

Sessions College for Professional Design is pleased to count many active duty military, their spouses, and veterans as current student and alumni. Our 100% Web-based education in design is not only nationally and regionally accredited, but it also delivers a remarkable flexibility for the busy schedules and mobile nature of our military student population.

Army

Administered by ACES (the Army Continuing Education System), the AVOTEC program provides $4500 per fiscal year for active duty service members. For those that qualify for AVOTEC the tuition for Sessions Online Foundation Certificates is adjusted to $4500.  Therefore, if you qualify for AVOTEC findancing your Sessions Online tuition will be 100% covered for the Foundation level Certificates. Marine Corps

The Marine Corps offers tuition assistance programs to all active duty marines in support of their education goals.

All first time students must complete a "TA Orientation" class (College 101) prior to using TA. This class is offered by the Marine Corps and can be completed online here. Note that TA is authorized for officers only if they agree to remain on active duty for two (2) years after completing the TA funded course.

3. Obtain approval from an education counselor for TA through the appropriate education counselor before enrollment.

 

Air Force

The Air Force offers tuition assistance programs to all active duty airmen in support of their education goals.

All active duty airmen who are eligible can participate in the TA program through the Air Force Virtual Education Center at the Air Force portal. Note that TA for courses is not available for courses that have already started or start more than 30 days into the future.

Air Force Reserve are also eligible to participate in the DANTES/TAMP program (see below).

2. Set up your Air Force account at the Air Force Virtual Education Center at the Air Force portal.

3. Obtain approval from an education counselor for TA or through the Air Force Virtual Education Center before enrollment.

 

The Navy offers active duty sailors tuition assistance programs to support their education goals. In addition, the Navy permits sailors to exceed the general DoD annual maximum allowance of $4,500.

TA is available to Naval Officer and Enlisted active duty personnel as well as Naval Reservists on continuous active duty. The Navy Tuition Assistance program pays up-front the tuition and fees charged by educational institutions for course enrollments. All sailors eligible for TA can participate through a Navy College Office.

Navy TA pays for both classroom and independent study/distance learning courses, provided program length does not exceed 240 clock hours per individual per fiscal year.

Coast Guard

The Coast Guard offers eligible personnel tuition assistance programs to support their education goals. TA is available to active duty, reserve, and civilian employees in the Coast Guard.

All coast guard personnel eligible for TA can participate through USCG Institute managed by the U.S. Naval Education and Training Professional Development and Technology Center. Click here for authorization forms.

Please note that Coast guard TA does not cover course registration fees or the cost of any tools or equipment that becomes the property of the student. Officers must complete one-year service upon completion of the course.

2. Click here for authorization forms. Use the USCG TA Application (CG-4147) to apply for TA and obtain a TA Authorization form (CGI-1560).

3. Make sure you have approval from an education counselor or USCG for TA before enrollment.

 

Military Spouse (MyCAA)

Sessions Online Schools of Art and Design is a proud participant in the DOD’s MyCAA. The Military Spouse Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) provides up to $6,000 of financial assistance for eligible military spouses directly to participating schools or other programs. more info

 

Dantes

The DANTES Tuition Assistance Management Program (TAMP) facilitates tuition assistance for Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) personnel for either classroom or distance learning courses.

Eligible Air Force Reserve personnel can apply to participate in this program at the DANTES site. Personnel must receive official approval from a unit education representative for their course of study.

Service members are responsible for paying tuition and fees upfront and will be reimbursed by DANTES upon proof of successful completion of the program.
