Sessions College for Professional Design is a proud member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Consortium. Enrolling in a SOC school membership offers a servicemember many benefits.

The SOC Consortium consists of more than 1,800 accredited schools and colleges throughout the U.S. and abroad. SOC Consortium schools enroll hundreds of thousands of servicemembers, their family members, and veterans in degree programs on school campuses, military installations, armories within the United States and overseas, via online and distance learning.

SOC Consortium schools are military-friendly institutions that meet SOC standards for credit transfer and degree completion. Membership indicates that Sessions College pledges to use military-friendly policies and practices and provide easy access to information about programs, policies, and procedures.  

Just as important, Sessions College supports the credit transfer policies defined by the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) and the SOC Military Student Bill of Rights. The SOC agreement facilitates transfer credit between any SOC school and degree programs at any other school in the SOC consortium, a list of institutions that includes major private schools and state colleges.

Following SOC guidelines, the following credit transfer policies apply to U.S. military service members entering Sessions College Associate's programs in Graphic Design, Web Design, and Digital Media:

  • Reasonable transfer of credit. A commitment to avoiding excessive loss of previously earned credit and avoid course work duplication.
  • Reduced academic residency. Service members are required to complete no more than 30% of program credits at Sessions College. Credits transferred from external institutions are subject to the school's general credit transfer policy detailed above.
  • Credit for military training and experience. Credit is awarded for military training courses in applicable subjects listed in the ACE Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services.
  • Credit for nationally recognized testing programs. Credit is awarded for appropriate scores in CLEP exams in English and Psychology and AP exams in English, Psychology, and Art History.
