Summer is in full swing, and the student gallery is bursting at the seams with hot goodness. Here are some highlights of instructor-nominated work.
Malaysian Fine Arts certificate student Shymiin Chor, who graduated in June, produced some stellar drawing and painting work in her program. This watercolor work, one of her final pieces, really shows her control of form, value, color, and composition. It’s delightful.

Graphic Design certificate student Josh Wise created this arboreal poster for a Linkin Park show at The Amp venue in L.A. The typography for the lyrics and the overall composition amply meet the project goal of creating a musical poster. Let’s hope for good weather.

Game Art certificate student Nigel Andreola did a superb job of building (rebuilding?) Robby the Robot in his Maya Basics class. If you compare his figure to the original robot from the 1956 sci-fi classic Forbidden Planet, you can see that Nigel is really developing skill in 3D form. Just don’t ask this robot to make you whiskey.

Northern Ireland-based Graphic Design certificate student Gareth Watson hit a high note with his Mostly Mozart poster design. Everything about the poster has an understated elegance: the typography, the simplified violin image with eye-catching elements, and the overall composition. Less is more.
