Architect/engineer Anita Riedner needed an education as mobile as her army husband. And so she decided to develop her skills in a Web design certificate program.
Ironically, the great recession motivated me to enroll in a program. Since finding a job as an architect/structural engineer was close to impossible over the last year, I decided not to lose any time and improve my skills in something that I love as much as I love architecture… graphic and Web design. Taking a program has allowed me to show my thoughtful, creative, and artistic sides.
As a former army wife, I was forced to travel a lot and the online program seemed to be the only option. During the program I changed locations five times!
The variety of themes and projects and constant development of my skills. It was fun to apply my visions and a little of myself into my work. I enjoy watching what they become with every day along with the newly acquired knowledge.
I am very self-disciplined, which is necessary when studying online. When I was preparing for my wedding in July 2010, I postponed my job search and focused solely on my program. I think it was a good decision, because I was able to make the most of the program.

I feel like I am able to put all my thoughts into the graphic design aspect of Web design. I am able to design almost everything I want and provide a high quality and interesting Web site for my new customers.
Finding a big, fat, and colorful job, preferably on the hammock in Jamaica.
