Certificate Student Profile: Web Design
Gibraltar-based Julia Grant had few art and design schools close to home. Enrolling in an online Web Design certificate program, she pushed herself to meet course deadlines, learning skills she could transfer to outside clients and projects.
1. What motivated you to pursue a certificate program in design?
After completing a certificate in Graphic Design with Sessions it became evident that furthering my knowledge in Web Design would be a great next step. Holding skills in both areas would serve me well in broadening my client base and working with a diverse range of projects.
2. Why did you choose an online program at Sessions College?
My home town/country of Gibraltar is somewhat limited in design courses so I ventured online and found Sessions College. I was so impressed with the wide range of courses they offered and the expertise of the staff that I knew this was the right place for me. This was the best decision I've ever made!
3. What's the most fun about studying Web Design?
The most satisfying aspect of Web design is seeing my Web site, my creation, on the Internet for anyone in the entire world to view and use. The concept of starting with nothing but an idea and creating something beautiful and usable is the greatest feeling.
4. How do you manage program deadlines alongside work, family, and other commitments?
My passion for design is what drove me throughout the certificate program. I treated my studies as if it were a full-time (very enjoyable) job and pushed myself to meet deadlines on time. I made Sessions my number one priority.
5. What's the biggest difference you've seen in your work so far?
The excellent course material and tutoring at Sessions has allowed me to greatly improve my design work and apply a professional tone to all projects I undertake. Working within the course deadlines has also helped me to produce quality work in a short time frame which, of course is a great asset when dealing with clients and projects outside of the college.
6. Goals after graduation:
My design career is looking very promising! I have already acquired a number of clients and plan to set up a Web and graphic design business in the near future. I've had such a wonderful time studying at Sessions College; it has transformed my life. I will most certainly return to take more courses!
