FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MIDDLE STATES COMMISSION ON SECONDARY SCHOOLS NAMES GORDON DRUMMOND TO BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

New York – August 17, 2007 –The Middle States Association Commission on Secondary Schools (MSA-CSS) recently named Gordon Drummond a member of its board of commissioners. Drummond currently serves as the chief learning officer of Sessions Online School of Design based in Manhattan.
As a Middle States commissioner, Drummond will help promote the improvement of secondary education through accreditation and foster communication between secondary schools and institutions of higher education. A recognized leader in accreditation, MSA-CSS appoints commissioners based on their extensive experience in the education field and their commitment to accreditation.
Drummond’s career focus has been in online education, instructional design, curriculum development and teacher training. He began his career in product development at Kaplan, Inc., designing test preparation programs before being promoted to curriculum director for the company’s Pre-College Programs. Drummond then joined Boston-based Learningbrands.com as a senior knowledge architect, creating interactive, adaptive, web-based courses for corporate clients.
Since joining Sessions in 2001, Drummond has enjoyed a broad role working with art and design subject matter experts (SMEs) to conceptualize, develop, and produce courses; recruiting, training, and managing an adjunct faculty of more than 30 teachers; and managing relationships with accrediting organizations as well as New York and New Jersey state licensing agencies.
Drummond earned a master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, UK.
“As education director at Sessions, I’ve experienced the positive role that accreditation can play in the development of a school,” says Drummond. “Working with DETC and MSA-CSS has helped Sessions not only meet the mark as an educational institution but also strive to attain the highest standards throughout our organization. I’m delighted at the opportunity to participate in the Commission and share my expertise in online education.”
With almost 10 years of experience in this specialized field, Drummond is a valuable asset to the commission, whose members actively participate in the accreditation process, providing schools with the framework and technical assistance to design and manage change and improvement. This process is based on established protocols and an external evaluation process that also encourages strategic planning and professional development.
