In 1997, Sessions School of Design was founded to bring new media design education to graphic and Web designers worldwide. Once a pioneer and now a leader in the distance education industry, our innovative educational model and 95% student satisfaction rate* has resulted in the successful delivery of tens of thousands of courses to students in over 100 countries.

School Mission

The school's mission is to prepare design professionals by providing the highest quality of design and new media education, so that students can study at their own pace, from wherever they are, without the traditional constraints of time and space.

Sessions offers more than sixty individual courses and certificate programs in graphic design, Web design, digital arts, multimedia arts, game art, and marketing design. These courses and programs prepare students for careers in the design industry by providing a rounded education in the skills and competencies necessary for professional success. The educational objectives are that students gain:

•  A foundation in the history and terminology of a design field.
•  A proficiency in industry-standard design software applications.
•  A mastery of fundamental color, composition, and layout skills.
•  Practical experience in completing a range of industry-standard design projects.
•  The ability to learn from and work with the individualized critique and feedback of expert professionals.
•  Practice in representing themselves and their work in a professional manner.
•  The ability to diagnose their strengths and weaknesses as designers and develop their personal creative or career directions.
•  Upon completion of a series of courses or program, a portfolio of high-quality design work to show to potential employers.
•  For program students, the Sessions Certificate, a mark of distinction and achievement in design and new media studies.

Our quality of content, instruction, and student service has earned us accreditation by the Distance Education Training Council (www.DETC.org) and we are the first of only two licensed online schools by the New York State Department of Education.

Sessions students learn from working, professional designers who are educating licensed.
