The Sessions College Student Ambassadors are a voluntary group of students enrolled in certificate or degree programs. Participants are currently matriculated students with strong academic records and a one-year commitment to the Student Ambassador program.
The mission of the program is to represent the Sessions College student body in two ways:
To represent the experience of attending Sessions College to interested parties such as prospective students and educational organizations.
To provide a Sessions College student perspective on the school's educational strategy and planning.
The Student Ambassadors achieve these goals by working closely with Education and Student Services teams. Nominated annually, Student Ambassadors make an important contribution to the future development and growth of Sessions College. Got a question for a student ambassador? Barbara Evans | Erin Ramsdale | Hiba Abugosh | J.T. Presta | Kyle Gilbreath | Natasha Flory | Rachel Fulks
Barbara Evans is using Sessions College as a starting point for her second career. After more than a decade in managed healthcare, she had an opportunity to work on some branding initiatives and a light bulb went on. Here was work she enjoyed, that was creative and might also allow her more time with her family. Says Barbara: “My favorite new tools are Illustrator and InDesign, which I’ve already put to extensive use in my day job building sales brochures, email templates and other marketing tidbits. I enrolled with Sessions because I felt they had the right mix of industry expert instructors and the flexibility I needed to keep up with family and work. My goals are modest: I am hoping to be successful enough as a freelance designer to fill some college funds and support my expensive fonts habit.”
Erin Ramdale has always been fascinated with art and design. After high school, Erin tried a few different career paths, but felt that none of them offered her a creative outlet. After holding a volunteer position with a Web design company, she was able to see how exciting the Web design industry could be. With Sessions College, she feels she is "getting a well-rounded education in all aspects of design." Erin is using the latest design software, through Sessions, to provide her a solid foundation to reach her goal of becoming part of a successful design team. Hiba Abugosh is currently enrolled in the Graphic Design degree program at Sessions, and as an aspiring graphic and Web designer she hopes to learn everything she can in the field of design. Hiba loves designing things: "it’s always so fun to come up with something new, creative, and exciting." Hiba enjoys painting, drawing, playing sports, and spending time with friends and family. She also loves editing and creating new images using Photoshop and Illustrator (her two new favorite programs)! She tries to enjoy life and appreciate even the small details that make everything so beautiful and make life worth living. Learn more about Hiba in her Student Profile.
J.T. Presta was involved with art in one form or another all the way up through high school, and even entered a graphic design program in junior college. Unfortunately, he did not finish out semester and instead became an automotive technican. Some years later, J.T. returned to college to finish up an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts while taking coursework in fine arts, electronics, and computer science, before transitioning to the computing field and earning a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree online. J.T.'s interest in design and illustration was rekindled when he started drawing an info tech Webcomic in late 2007. Fast forward to 2011 and he is revisiting his once-traveled graphic design path through Sessions College.
Kyle Gilbreath is a nuclear design/analysis engineer for Westinghouse Electric Company. Throughout his life, Kyle has two true passions: his interest in finding out how things work (and why), which he explored deeply while earning a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University; and his love for art and design, which brought him to Sessions College. He has always enjoyed the freedom and expression of painting, drawing, and recently, photography. He enrolled at Sessions College to expand on his technical degree by learning and practicing the skills associated with good design. For Kyle, Sessions has provided "the opportunity to explore my passion of art and design while still working full time."
Natasha Flory graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. She started working with the Government of Saskatchewan as a program analyst. Years later, she moved to Montreal, Quebec and began her career as a stay at home. While raising three children she started designing and developing Web sites in her spare time. Natasha has a strong interest in digital media and enjoys Web design. She enrolled at Sessions College to" acquire more knowledge in design theory and enhance my skills." Her goal is to use the skills gained through this program to become a successful freelance Web designer.
Rachel Fulks originally went to school for Public Relations and Spanish, but her heart has always been in art and design. She is always drawn to the creative aspect of anything she's involved with. As part of her current position, she oversees marketing projects and helps with email and print design. She enrolled in the Graphic Design program to learn to fully utilize Adobe Creative Suite and enhance her graphic design ability. "I hope to be more marketable in my field and move into a more creative design position," says Rachel. In her free time, she love to paint, draw, and make hair fascinators.
