Learning in Action

In the Exercise portion of the class, Piper asks her students to create a design based on the Golden Section. Here are two actual exercise results from students in the Design and Composition class:

1
Collage by Janet, Wisconsin

Instructor comments:

"Your proportion study is divided along the golden mean. I love the colors and textures, nice design"

2

Student: "This is my funky old house, please note that the closet door really is that crooked!"

Instructor: "I like how you cropped your proportion study. This shows how you can take a very simple subject and make it interesting by using strong shapes."

The Golden Section is just one of the many principles of composition covered in this course.  To learn more about the Golden Section and other principles of composition, visit Design and Composition.
