In the Exercise portion of the class, Piper asks her students to create mood boards by selecting a base color and using the Color Wheel to identify additional colors. Here are two actual exercise results from students in the Color Theory class:

Mood Boards by Matt
Student: “This was a great exercise for analyzing color - I really learned a lot! The hardest part for me was coming up with random stylized illustrations to showcase the colors. I just had to stare at the swatches until it reminded me of something interesting.... “
Instructor comments:
"Complementary - Green and magenta have strong contrast.
Split complements - Split complements are more unexpected. I like the red and purple. "

Instructor:
Complementary - Red and green have a lot of contrast. The red stripes move forward, the green shifts back.
Split complements - Fun design! I like the yellow-green, it has a young, playful feel."
