A Job Posting for the Visually Oriented

If you’re looking for a non-traditional job, perhaps you should find a non-traditional ad.

We liked this striking, visual announcement for a Web design position at Duolingo, a technology company ambitiously translating current Web sites into a variety of languages.

Duolingo web design job posting

For sheer clarity and inventiveness, Duolingo’s ad blows standard Craigslist and Monster.com listings out of the water. Qualifications and position details are presented in a diagram, attracting visual thinkers and designers from the get-go and helping weeding out those who need not apply.

Not afraid to playfully direct unqualified readers of the interesting post to ‘go work for a large corporation,’ the ad exhibits a well defined but relaxed company culture while maintaining a serious tone towards an available position.

We’d like to know what you think: Would you apply for this job? Do you think this type of ad would attract a more qualified pool of applicants?
