Digital Photography Concentration

 

Available to Graphic Design, Web Design, Multimedia Arts, and Marketing Design students in Master's Certificate programs.

This concentration enables students to learn the technology of photography and explore its professional and art applications. Students explore the medium through hands-on projects, undertaking classic photography assignments, studying composition, and developing a portfolio for exhibition.

7002 Digital Photography I
Explore the interaction of photography techniques and environmental factors to create powerful images. Students learn the fundamentals of lighting, perspective, and set-up and explore techniques for classic assignments: portraits, product shots, indoor and outdoor location shoots, and fast-action sports. Take your digital photography artistry to a higher level. Students explore advanced photography techniques and approaches to composition, learning how to correct images using Photoshop and print high-quality images. The emphasis of the class is developing a solid technical understanding of the medium and identifying one's individual expressive vision. 7015 Digital Photography with Lightroom
Learn how to use Adobe Lightroom 2.0 to collect and catalog your images with ease, use basic and advanced development and retouching tools to create stellar shots, and present your work in slideshows, on the Web, and in print. And all this is non-destructive to your files, leaving your original shots safe and intact. The course will challenge you to take your shots to the next level of organization, quality, and presentation. get more

7005 Digital Art Photography
Explore the development of an art photography concept from genesis through its exploration, selection, treatment, and presentation. Students examine how to place images in photos and mock up drawings of three-dimensional spaces to promote exhibitions. Students complete the course with a photography project ready to be presented over the Web, sent via email, or distributed at client meetings. get more
