This concentration enables students
to develop a proficiency in designing
and developing navigation systems
for Web sites and multimedia interfaces.
Students study the history of interface
design and learn techniques for creating
blueprints for Web sites. Through
hands-on projects, students learn
how to implement the principles of
effective usability, accessibility,
and interactivity in site design.
Requirements: Students
entering this track must have a basic
proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator

for Web design projects. Students
examine user-centered Web design principles,
looking at real-world applications
for such concepts as affordances,
constraints, mapping, feedback, and
readability in Web navigation and
interface design. Students will learn
useful guidelines that can be applied
in any Web design project.

Learn how to design or modify Web
sites to meet accessibility guidelines.
Students study current trends in accessibility
research and how to address Section
508 foundations for making Web content
accessible to users with physical,
technological, or other limitations.
Practical projects address the challenge
of making a site accessible to the
widest possible audience and negotiating
the tradeoffs in information and visual
design.
