About The Client

Since 1991, Global Action Project (G.A.P.) has provided media arts and leadership training for thousands of young people living in underserved communities, from New York to Croatia to Guatemala to the Middle East and beyond. Their mission is to provide youth with the knowledge, tools, and relationships they need to create powerful, thought-provoking media on local and international issues that concern them, and to use their media as a catalyst for dialogue and social change.

About The Project

This will be a two-part project, a poster and T-shirt design representing Global action Project. This is a great opportunity to get a really nice set of print pieces in your portfolio, so we highly recommend participating!

The Poster: Competitors will be given an image of the Global Action Project logo, a series of images, and copy to use on the poster. You are not limited to using the images as they are; you have the option of doing any treatment you like on the image. The poster can be a 4-color print process.

The T-Shirt: This will be a two-color design featuring the Global Action Project logo as shown on the Web Site. You will be given dimensions of the printable area of front and back of each T-shirt.

Colors/Fonts: Each T-shirt design should be submitted in a black and white version and in a color version. You must use the logo and typefaces used on the Global Action Web site. Fonts will be provided to you.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

All participating students must complete the Global Action Project Competition Sign-Up form within the Competition folder in the Student Center. Upon doing so, we will enter you into a "class" within Angel where you can download the logo and copy for the T-shirt and poster. There you will also view more detailed competition information and submission instructions.

Submit logo designs by Monday November 29 2004.

Each participant has the opportunity to submit 2 versions of their poster and T-shirt design. Semi-finalists will have an opportunity to revise and improve their designs with Faculty feedback, and go on to do the brochure design. We will be reviewing final submissions along with Global Action Project, who will be selecting the winner. If your design is selected by Global Action Project , we may give you some notes for minor tweaks and revisions, and you may also be given feedback directly with the client, after which point you must submit a version of the design with finalized copy as provided by Global Action Project.

COMPETITION RULES:

At the judges' discretion, competition submissions that arrive late may not be included. By participating in this competition, you hereby release all rights to the final product to Global Action Project. Every design submitted becomes the exclusive property of Global Action Project. By submitting a design, the designer thereby grants Global Action Project perpetual license to use the design on its press release, advertising, and any other way it sees fit, anywhere in the world.

Examples of outstanding student work may also be displayed or publicized at Sessions site or in the Sessions catalogue.
