of the design brief, and contest rules.
About The Client
NPower NY is part of a growing network of independent,
locally based nonprofits dedicated to putting technology
know-how in the hands of nonprofit organizations to
expand the reach and impact of their work. A major
component of this mission is Technology Service Corps,
or TSC, an innovative technology training program
focused on giving New York City young adults an entrance
to a technology career, while simultaneously providing
affordable and trained technology staff to nonprofit
organizations.
About The Project
Up until now, TSC has not really had a logo or branding
of its own. It has existed as a segment
of the Npower NY site but didnt really draw attention
as a standout program of NPower. Now, after nine cycles
of this highly successful training program, TSC is
rolling out an Adopt-a-Student program wherein an
individual donor can sponsor the TSC training of a
talented, motivated student.
This will be a three-part project:
Logo Design for TSC with branding of "Adopt-a-Student."
This project begins with a logo design for TSC, which
will take design cues from the NPower NY logo but
also have its own independent look. The two should
look compatible on a page together, but the TSC logo
shouldn't look like it borrowed its entire idenity
from the NPower NY logo. Once the logo design is done,
additional visual branding should be done for the
Adopt-a-Student program. This program goes under the
umbrella of TSC so while Adopt-a-Student is a heavily
featured part of TSC, it should fit in with the TSC
identity. Competitors have the option to submit up
to three versions of the logo designs; client and
faculty will select the best one for finalists to
use on the next phase of the project.
Brochure Design for the TCS "Adopt-a-Student"
launch: This glossy two-color brochure mailer will
be image-heavy and lively, providing an overview of
TSC and visually getting across the impact TSC makes
on the lives of its students and the nonprofit organizations
that TSC graduates go on to serve. The Adopt-a-Student
program will be covered in detail in a segment of
the TSC brochure.
Translation of Visual Assets to Web Template. Adopt-A-Student
donors will receive html emails containing visually
rich, in-depth information on the student they sponsor
as well as regular updates on the progress of his
or her training. Once the winner has completed the
brochure design, he or she will take the visual elements
of the brochure and create web-ready versions for
the html templates.
File formats: As usual, all your work should be submitted
in jpeg format for judging, but save all your original
eps files in case your work is chosen as the winning
piece. I can't stress the importance of this enough:
save your originals!
