To be congratulated: Emily Chaplin is the winner of the NPower NY "Technology Service Corps" branding competition!

Emily Chaplin's logo and branding concept won the NPower competition.

NPower NY wanted a separate visual branding for their Technology Service Corps initiative, a program that offers young adults technology training and places them in IT positions with non-profit organizations.

sEmily's "adopt a student" logo emphasises the individual.

The challege of the project was how to visually set apart the TSC brand, but make it fit with the NPower NY visual identity, which is spread over charter organizations throughout the country. As part of the branding, a separate logo for he "Adopt-a-Student" donor program was needed to motivate people to financially sponsor a student's training tuition.

Emily Chaplin's work used the simplest color scheme of all the submissions, and thematically diverged from the NPower logo, which features the image of a computer. She chose instead to emphasize the human aspect of the TSC program, which, as program manager Christine Stearn said, "really illustrates the purpose of this program. Together the TSC logo and the Adopt-a-Student logo illustrate the team aspect, and the focus on development of the individual." Congratulations, Emily!

Brent Kaluhikaua's logo designs

Brent Kaluhikaua
Master's Certificate Student

Brent Kaluhikaua did a great job of branding the TSC identity within the same set of visual symbols as the NPower logo. The client loved the fact that Brent had used a mouse and a satellite tower to illustrate both the tech focus of the organization, and the hierarchy of relationship between the parent organization and the program within it. Great job, Brent!
