Outline:

LESSON 1 Text on the Screen Looks at how text is applied to the screen, different treatments for text, and when to use which kind of text — including an introductory discussion of style sheets and Flash.

LESSON 2 Text as Graphics Discusses converting text into graphics effectively, how to keep text image sizes small, and some of the aesthetic considerations behind web type design. The type capabilities of Flash are covered more in-depth, and serif and sans-serif fonts, bitmapped typography, anti-aliasing, and letterspacing concerns are all addressed.

LESSON 3 HTML Text, Style Sheets, and Tables Delves into the possibilities and limitations of HTML text, and how to control the differences in text rendering between Windows and Mac systems and between different versions of browsers like Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer. This lesson also digs deeper into the workings of cascading style sheets and looks at the complexities of margin and column formatting as well as tables.
