a visual design field. Students learn design principles,

development, through case studies and hands-on
projects. Students will gain experience working
in different design media.
Concentrations
Design Concentrations offer students
in Advanced and Masters Certificate programs the ability
to study in an area of professional focus. Each concentration
is a 105-hour program with a specific career emphasis.
Completion of a core certificate program ensures that
students have met all prerequisites to enter a concentration.
Available concentrations
vary by program but include: advanced portfolio, corporate
identity, digital photography, digital illustration, digital
imaging, e-commerce, web design, flash, web coding, visual
identity, and web business.
Portfolio Review
Advanced and Master's Certificate students participate
in a final Portfolio Review. Upon completion of the
Advanced Certificate program, students submit 20-30
pieces of work for a Faculty panel to review. Work samples
include both Sessions.edu projects and outside creative
or professional projects across a range of media.
Students receive two rounds of feedback with the goal
of honing a stack of work into a professional, polished
presentation for potential employers. In this session,
students receive a constructive, candid critical evaluation,
gaining an understanding of how employers or other professionals
are likely to react to their work.
