New instructor: Marie Mockett, English Composition
Joining the Sessions College AOS program faculty this fall is Marie Mutsuki Mockett.
A published novelist, poet, and non-fiction writer, Marie joins Sessions to teach the English Composition class. Marie has formidable resume as a creative writer. Her debut novel Picking Bones from Ash, published in the fall of 2009 by Graywolf Press, was a Finalist for the Paterson Prize for Fiction and shortlisted for the Saroyan International Prize for Writing and her essay “Letter from a Japanese Crematorium,” published in Agni 65, was cited as distinguished in 2008 Best American Essays and anthologized in Creative Nonfiction 3. A frequent seminar panelist and presenter, Marie has lectured on Japanese fairy tales and the business of writing.
We’re delighted to welcome Marie to the degree faculty and looking forward to her inspiring students on the joys and rigors of creative writing. We wish departing English Composition instructor Lisa Stonestreet well in her future projects.
