In this Sessions Live event, we interview documentary, film and TV producer Jon Myers about his 15-year career in the digital media industry, which spans a host of successful shows including Love Is Blind, Perfect Match, Philly Homicide, Lethally Blonde, The Playboy Murders, and many, many more.

In this interview, award-winning filmmaker and Sessions Department Head André Robert Lee will interview Jon about his career, with a focus on the skills and attributes needed to break into the industry.

Jon Myers

Documentary, film, and TV producer

Jon Myers is an award-winning documentary, film, and television producer whose work spans true crime, documentary, reality, competition, and lifestyle programming. With over a decade of immersive experience in the industry, he has helped bring compelling stories and ambitious productions to audiences across Netflix, HBOMax, Peacock, CNN, Investigation Discovery, Oxygen, HGTV, Food Network, and more.

Jon has brought a wide range of shows to life as a producer, including Love Is Blind, Perfect Match, Philly Homicide, Lethally Blonde, The Playboy Murders, A Body in the Basement, This Is Life with Lisa Ling, Breaking Hate, Beachfront Bargain Hunt: Renovation, Project Runway All Stars, and Beat Bobby Flay.

Across formats and genres, Jon is drawn to stories that don’t just entertain, but challenge and connect with audiences.

André Robert Lee

Filmmaker, Digital Media Dept Head

André Robert Lee is an award-winning filmmaker, producer, educator, and Peabody Award-winning producer whose work explores art, identity, history, and community. His films have premiered on PBS, CNN, HBO Max, and at Sundance, reaching audiences across the country through screenings, workshops, and public conversations. Recent projects include the feature documentary This Too Is Healthcare: A Time of Trees and the Academy Award–qualifying short documentary Freeman Vines, which was nominated for an NAACP Image Award. André is currently co-directing Thaddeus Mosley: The Last Log, a feature documentary about the life, work, and enduring legacy of acclaimed sculptor Thaddeus Mosley. Through his company, Many Things Productions, he creates films that illuminate overlooked stories, celebrate creative lives, and invite audiences into deeper conversations about who we are and how we connect with one another.

Gordon Drummond

College President

Gordon Drummond is the President and Chief Academic Officer of Sessions College. Gordon is an educator and instructional designer with a passion for art, design, and technology who joined Sessions in 2001. As President, Gordon’s role is to provide the leadership to help our school directors achieve their goals in education, operations, marketing, and student services. Key tasks include managing accreditation, licensing, and relations with government agencies and other institutions, coordinating strategic and educational planning, and representing the school at conferences and other public events. Outside of Sessions, Gordon has served on the Middle States Association Commission on Secondary Schools (2007-2015) and the Distance Education Accreditation Commission (DEAC) board (2017-2023).
