Celebrating Constitution Day in 2025

Constitution Day events are held by schools and colleges in the United States with the goal of promoting a greater understanding of the history of this important historical document. Schools that participate in the U.S. Federal Student Aid system implement programs to foster awareness and understanding of this important event each year.
What is the Purpose of the Constitution?
The Constitution established the rules and separate powers of the three branches of the federal government (the legislature, the executive, and the judiciary) and outlined the principle of federalism. The U.S. Constitution in the oldest national constitution currently in use.
On September 17th, 1787, the Constitution was signed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by 39 patriots who included Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, and James Madison. The constitution was soon ratified by 11 states: Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, and New York.
We encourage all students and citizens to learn more about this foundational document of democracy. In charged and contentious political times, it’s important to understand the principles that underwrite the fair and democratic process that support the society in which we live.
