This February, Sessions College has added more program options for Digital Media students. Beginning on Feb 20th, 2026, students enrolling in the Undergraduate Certificate in Digital Media program can choose one of two tracks: Video and Motion Graphics or Filmmaking.

The new, multi-track options in the 24-credit Undergraduate Certificate in Digital Media program provide more flexibility for learners interested in developing in-demand skills for today’s content creator economy. The creator economy offers a set of platforms and tools ranging from blogs to podcasts and Youtube, Instagram, and Tiktok, that enable creative and entrepreneurial individuals to create their own brands and content channels over the internet.

To equip students for this dynamic digital landscape, the Undergraduate Certificate in Digital Media provides a foundation in Photoshop and Premiere so that students can create, shoot, and edit images and movies for digital platforms.

Students choose between Video and Motion Graphics or Filmmaking tracks. In the Video and Motion Graphics track, students develop an understanding of how to create vector graphics and animations using Adobe Illustrator and Animate. In the Filmmaking track, students explore writing for the screen and learn how to apply cinematic techniques, including shot types, composition, and lighting, to a series of creative projects.

All students learn the basics of Adobe After Effects, which can be used to add effects and title sequences to video content. A Filmmaking Concepts for Digital Media class gives students the opportunity to apply cinematic techniques to create content for various social and digital media channels.

According to college president Gordon Drummond: “Adding the two new tracks to Undergraduate Certificate in Digital Media program  gives students more options to explore the courses that meet their exact learning goals. If you are starting out in digital design and need a good grasp of the tools used to create images and create and edit video, this program will help you get up to speed.”

The program is one of several Undergraduate Certificate programs where students who are eligible for Federal Student Aid can utilize Federal grants and loans to pursue a creative, career-center education.

The program changes were approved by the DEAC (Distance Education Accrediting Commission), the accrediting agency that accredited Sessions College since 2001. The DEAC is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a recognized accrediting agency and recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
