Transfer Credit Options for Displaced Art Institute Students

by Sessions Staff | September 25, 2023
It was abruptly announced that Miami International University of Art & Design and seven other Art Institutes schools would close all of their remaining campuses on September 30th, 2023. With many ex-Art Institute students now wondering how to transfer their course credits and complete their majors, Sessions College is proud to step in to provide adaptable transfer credit options for any and all students who may have recently been affected by this unfortunate turn of effects.

All Remaining Art Institutes Are Now Closed

All remaining Art Institutes campuses that were abruptly and permanently closed include:

  • Miami International University of Art & Design
  • The Art Institute of Atlanta
  • The Art Institute of Austin, a branch of The Art Institute of Houston
  • The Art Institute of Dallas, a branch of Miami International University of Art & Design
  • The Art Institute of Houston
  • The Art Institute of San Antonio, a branch of The Art Institute of Houston
  • The Art Institute of Tampa, a branch of Miami International University of Art & Design
  • The Art Institute of Virginia Beach, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta

Make no mistake, the closure of what was once a national system of more than 50 Art Institute schools, enrolling hundreds of thousands of students, is certainly a dark day for arts education in the US. There are countless creatives, art directors, designers, illustrators, filmmakers, and more who began their careers in Art Institutes’ classrooms, and we can’t afford to have a less creative society.

Here at Sessions College, we’re ready to provide transfer credit options for displaced Art Institute students who may be searching for opportunities to carry over their accrued credits to similar art and design majors.
