Sessions College Launches New Micro-Credentials

On March 20th, 2026, Sessions College launched a new micro-credentials program in partnership with the digital credential platform Credly.

Beginning on April 27th, 2026, Sessions College students enrolled in a range of digital creative foundation courses can earn a micro-credential by completing a micro-credential course with a grade of B or higher.

Students can earn micro-credentials in Photoshop, Illustrator, Photography, Design, Screenwriting, Cinematography, and many more.

When students earn a micro-credential, they gain a digital badge that can be easily added to a LinkedIn, Twitter/X, or Facebook profile, shared via email, or added to a website or email signature. Every digital badge earned and shared connects to a page at Credly with a breakdown of skills demonstrated.

At Sessions College, micro-credentials can be earned through completion of individual courses, or by enrollment in Undergraduate Certificate, Associate Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree programs.

For Sessions College, the goal of the new micro-credential program is to offer a powerful new way for students to showcase their skills.

"Micro-credentials provide students with the opportunity to celebrate their academic achievement by earning micro-credential badges for a variety of foundational courses," comments Dr. Meryl P. Epstein, Sessions Dean of Academic Affairs. "Sharing digital badges through social media venues help to spread the word about a student or graduate's technical and creative skills."

The new micro-credentials program is part of a broader trend in higher education. As Sessions President Gordon Drummond explains: "Micro-credentials are a fast-growing area in higher education. By launching this program, our goal is to reward and promote student achievement, and help student access career opportunities in more immediate, accessible ways."
