Free Font Friday: Meow Script
by Taylor Slattery | February 3, 2022
Meow Script is a handwritten monoline typeface created by Robert Leuschke. It features a wide selection of uppercase characters with six stylistic sets of alternates to choose from with varying degrees of flourish. The uppercase characters are large and expressive, lending the face a great deal of personality.
Meow Script leans fairly far forward, guiding the eye along. This lean and the face’s overall roundness combine to give the typeface a lyrical quality. Its counters vary in their openness with some character’s strokes continuing on into the next, resulting in a much smaller counter, but overall Meow Script retains good readability even at fairly small sizes.
Compared to other script typefaces, the breaks in the connections between characters give Meow Script a more casual and personal feel. Its curves are gentle, giving a playful and bouncy feel, but not airy, as its uniformity in stroke gives it a certain firmness in appearance. Overall Meow Script is an expressive, whimsical typeface that would make a great choice for a variety of casual applications.
Meow Script is available in a single weight in Latin and Vietnamese character sets here.
