Free Font Friday: STIX Two Math

by Taylor Slattery | September 23, 2021

STIX Two Math, an acronym for Scientific and Technical Information eXchange, is a serif typeface created by a team of designers at Tiro Typeworks. STIX Two Math is part of a family of faces that were designed with a single purpose in mind—to meet the demanding publishing needs for publications in scientific, medical, and technical fields.

The project came about as the result of the cooperation of a variety of companies involved in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and electrical engineering, known collectively as the STI Pub companies. The result is a precise typeface with great readability, perfectly suited for any of the above-mentioned technical applications. To accomplish this, the STIX family boasts a comprehensive set of glyphs that allow it to transition seamlessly from one field of expertise to the next.

STIX Two is available in variable versions in both Roman and Italic, lending the already robustly equipped typeface an ever greater deal of flexibility. In addition to the Latin alphabet, STIX Two is also available in Cyrillic. If you’re working on anything technical and have struggled to find the right face, be sure to give STIX Two Math a shot.

STIX Two Math is available in a single weight here and you can find the whole family here.
