Free Font Friday: The Ring of Kerry
by Jill Meyer | March 15, 2019
Irish people are said to have the gift of gab. What better way to herald this St. Patrick’s Day than with yarns written in this truly beautifully crafted medieval style font? May the luck of the Irish be with you when you download this Gaelic uncial script for use in cards, posters, or logos. Uncial scripts are written entirely without capital letters. They were common centuries ago and used to write Greek, Latin, and Gothic.
This time of year makes us happy to celebrate Irish culture. Many traditions call for a green beer accompanied by corned beef and cabbage, but why not download a decorative font to boot? The Ring of Kerry has a very horizontal orientation. It is circle based and boasts Latin punctuation, European accents, kerning, and even a few Celtic knots.
This font is irresistible for a book cover or a beer poster/label. The majuscule lettering (all letters are the same height) is very appropriate for European product branding. Its traditional essence is grounding yet full of spirit.
The Ring of Kerry font was developed by Dennis Ludlow at Scharkshock.com. Designing for over 20 years, Sharkshock is based out of Raleigh, North Carolina. This font is free for personal use. For commercial download contact dennis@sharkshock.net to discuss an end user license agreement.
