Anyone who’s spent any amount of time trying to improve their SEO ranking knows that it can be a challenge to pull traffic to your site. Once you’ve got them there, the last thing you want them to do is leave. Linking to outside content from your site can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, outbound links have been shown to have a positive effect on your site’s ranking. By linking to authoritative sources, you increase the credibility of the information you share, in turn, providing a better experience for your visitors. Unfortunately, by providing links to additional resources, you also encourage them to leave your site.

When every bit of traffic is the result of endless hours spent optimizing SEO and a/b testing ads, if you can manage to get a visitor to your site, you want to keep them there. offers a simple solution to the outbound link dilemma. By converting HTML links into pop-ups, visitors can preview the link’s content before leaving your page. This way you can use as many links as you’d like without the fear of losing your visitors. produces two different types of previews. The first type is more general and applies to any type of link. When a user hovers over the hyperlink, a small pop-up window appears offering a title, an image, and a short blurb about the content. This is handy for providing some additional context when citing a source inline so readers can make a quick judgment about the source’s validity. This would also be useful for affiliate links to items in the case of a review, or books mentioned as resources.

The second type of link is called an immersive preview. Clicking this type of link will open a lightbox directly on the page where the viewer can enjoy the link’s content in its entirety without needing to leave your site. This type of preview is limited to only certain types of media, primarily Youtube, Soundcloud, Instagram, and other audio and video-centric platforms. helps to retain visitor engagement by adding depth to your content so there’s no need to leave. An added benefit is that by using lazy-loaded link previews, you actually increase your site’s loading speed. These features all add up to an overall better user experience your visitors will thank you for. is free to try. You can learn more here.
